Done with stinky grain or drying clay filled heat/cold packs. Threw them away and replaced them with Lavayoo. I hesitated for two days before placing my order, trying to talk myself out of the expensive new purchase. Once our two large packs arrived I am convinced there is NOTHING better out there. Yes, Lavayoo costs quite a bit more but I told my husband these bags will last the rest of our lives, the filling, obsidian, can be washed and rebagged if the fabric fails over time. I really wanted to love this but I needed moist heat for my full back and no matter how much water I added in the micro it just didn’t provide it at all. I have small heating pads with seeds that work much, much better for this. It’s a solid heating pad and holds the heat well, but simply doesn’t provide moist heat as advertised. Unfortunately this is useless to me, which is disappointing considering the high price.

I really really wanted to like this pad. I was looking for something to provide moist heat but no matter how much water I put in the microwave with it (and adjusted times), it just doesn’t. I have a natural grain pad for my neck that provides actual moist heat. This is a solid heating pad but unfortunately doesn’t provide what I need which is disappointing considering the high cost.

I really like this heating pad. The lack of smell is WONDERFUL. I like the weight (6 pounds) and the consistent distribution of the sand. I don’t feel like it retains heat as well as my other (rice filled) heating pad, but overall I like it a lot better and I can heat it longer to compensate.

The weight of this back pack is AMAZING! I’m already saving up for a second one ;)
Also, it really is true that this pack radiates heat for MUCH longer than the flax and buckwheat one I had been using, though it also takes longer to heat up.
So far, I think my favorite thing about the sand is the even heating… no scalding hot spots like my other pack can get when heating in microwave.

I love my lava bags. I incorporate them into my sessions with my clients. I love that they don’t smell! I am a massage therapist and I put them in my towel warmer. I love how they stay hot for a very long time.. I recommend these bags if you were looking for heat or cold therapy.

Love the large size. It has sections sewed so the sand stays in place. 2 minutes in the microwave and it stays warm for considerably longer than my old one with clay balls in it. It covers my entire back or if I lay on my side it covers a hip and my back. I can see using it for my feet this winter. Great size. (I did sew a heavyweight linen pillow case for this.)

We absolutely Lava our LavaYoo full back lava bag. It is so wonderful to drift off to sleep with that on my back.
It is such a dream to use it while driving my ‘61 VW Bus. As you can imagine the seats in those things are not exactly plush. The heat from the LavaYoo bay is so soothing and really helps on those long drives.

These are amazing! I ordered one and wanted to have a larger size so I ordered this one. It’s great for hips as I’m able to wrap it around, back, shoulders, ankle, you name it. I like the straight sewn pieces to keep the sand in place. It’s comfy and weighted. I do have to heat longer but I would buy again for sure.

I've loved rice buddies for years and like to use them when I go to bed, but my husband couldn't stand the smell of them. I got this hoping it would smell better but still provide me with comfort and warmth and it worked! No offending odor, hardly any odor at all. It was a lot heavier than I expected, but that almost gives it a weighted blanket type feel so I think that's just another positive aspect. I'm going to save up to buy a second one.

At bedtime I warm my LavaBag in the microwave and slide it under the bedcovers. No cold feet anymore and no electric blanket needed! Love it!

Bigger than I expected so I was pleasantly surprised. I am 6’3” and it covers my spine from neck to butt. It’s also the first cordless heating pad to cover both hips as well as your lower back. If it had a way to “tie it around” your waist so you could be mobile while in use then it’s 5 stars+++

great heating pad. no ordor. solid construction and the sand doesn’t shift because the stitching is perfect. i will say that i wished it stayed warmed longer. i put it on for 4 minutes which makes it very hot in some places and it stays warm for a while, but the sustained warmth diminishes after 5-10 minutes. it’s still warm long after that, but not hot. my muscles prefer the higher temps. but overall this is the best heating pad i’ve used. and it feels really rugged. i bought the case too and use it, but it’s not essential. i also like to pair this with sombra warming lotion that physical therapists use.

Came to know about Lava bag while searching for heated bag! Very good quality and weighted too so the heat goes deep down the body part! Will recommend though little pricey if ordering from Canada but worth!

Excellent product, well worth the price! Stays warm, doesn't smell and has excellent weight. Used to buy a cheap food grade bean bag on Amazon at least yearly, not worth it! This Lava bag is 100 times better, no exaggeration. The customer service from Steve is excellent as well. Had an issue with shipping that he promptly corrected. Nice to see a small business that stands behind its products and services. Will purchase again.

I love the whole back lava bag for my massage clients. I use it in place of the hot towels I used to use. This bag holds heat so well and is a super comfortable weight. I just throw it in my hot towel cabinet and it’s perfect. I’m so grateful I found this product!!!

I am a practicing massage therapist and I had been searching for a heat pack that wasn't filled with grain and the large lava bag perfectly checked all the boxes! It can be cleaned. I have zero worries of something molding in my cabi. It is large enough to completely cover most backs. And It provides a thorough distribution of heat and weight.
